Fairfield Falcons Lose To Eastside Blazers in Baseball

Fairfield Varsity Falcons fell to Eastside Blazers 9-7 on Tuesday at Fairfield Jr. / Sr. High School. A single by Shull put Eastside Blazers on the board in the top of the first. Eastside Blazers added two runs in the second. Fairfield Varsity Falcons committed an error, making the score 3-0. Eastside Blazers added one run in the third. McCreery was struck by a pitch, making the score 4-0. Fairfield Varsity Falcons flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on one hit to take the lead, 6-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Beasy that drove in three. Eastside Blazers jumped into the lead in the top of the sixth when Shull singled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run. Shull earned the win for Eastside Blazers. The hurler gave up one hit and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking four. Miller took the loss for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The reliever went two and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking two. Garber started on the mound for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and four runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking two. Martin stepped on the mound first for Eastside Blazers. The starter surrendered zero hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking eight. Beasy led Fairfield Varsity Falcons with three runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-4 on the day. Beachy led Fairfield Varsity Falcons with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 12 walks for the game. Garber stole two bases. Shull provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Eastside Blazers with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Martin led Eastside Blazers with three hits in five at bats. Martin stole two bases. Eastside Blazers ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. Eastside Blazers turned one double play in the game. Fairfield Varsity Falcons will travel to Fremont for their next game on Thursday.
