Fairfield Baseball defeats Jimtown

Garber collected three hits in four at bats, as Fairfield Varsity Falcons defeated Jimtown Varsity Jimmies 8-5 on Saturday at Fairfield Jr. / Sr. High School. Garber tripled in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the first inning. Jimtown Varsity Jimmies got on the board in the top of the first inning after Davis grounded out, and Presley singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Fairfield Varsity Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a single by Chupp, and a ground out by Tobias. In the bottom of the third, Fairfield Varsity Falcons broke up the tie when Castetter doubled, scoring one run. Then a single by Beasy followed to extend the lead to 4-2. Garber earned the win for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and five runs (one earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two. Flores took the loss for Jimtown Varsity Jimmies. The hurler went four innings, surrendering six runs on nine hits, striking out one and walking one. Tobias appeared in relief for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Fairfield Varsity Falcons collected 13 hits in the game. Garber and Miller were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Castetter and Beasy each collected multiple hits for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Fairfield Varsity Falcons turned one double play in the game. Presley drove the middle of the lineup, leading Jimtown Varsity Jimmies with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Kaler and Presley each collected two hits for Jimtown Varsity Jimmies. Kaler stole two bases.
